Tryout Information for 2022

TRYOUTS FOR THE 2022 Season will be held on Monday Aug 1st and Tuesday Aug 2nd, 2022. There are 4 sessions and ALL Prospective volleyball players, wanting to play in 2022 need to attend all 4 sessions. The schedule for each day is 8:30am to 11am and 2pm until 4:30pm.
All prospective Volleyball players must attend tryouts during these two days to make a team. There are NO OTHER TRY OUT DAYS
All prospective athletes will need to have an updated 2022 physical (MUST HAVE A 2022 DATE) on file with the PHS Athletic Trainers prior to trying out for Volleyball. Athletes may NOT tryout without a UIL Physical.
All district and UIL paperwork will also need to be turned in prior to tryouts. You can find the UIL paperwork on the PfISD Athletics Website linked HERE
Tryouts consist of physical conditioning (running and weights) as well as Volleyball specific skills. There will be a running component to tryouts each of the two tryout days!!
There are four tryout segments each lasting roughly two to two and a half hours with a major break in between segments. It is recommended that prospective players are well hydrated, have eaten a solid meal, bring their own water bottles prior to working out.
Tryout Day Schedule - Begin reporting at 7:45am before tryout time ON DAY 1 and check in (clearance check made). Clearance check is to make sure physicals are turned in, paperwork has been submitted, basic information gathered. 8:15 to 8:25 - Coach introductions/Player expectations (10 min). Head to track for running (30 to 40 min). Break 10 min. On court drills and evaluation for 90 min. Lunch Break 3hrs there will be no supervision of players over lunch break. Afternoon Session - check in 1:30pm (30 min before starting). On Court Drills and evaluation 2hrs and 30min. Stretch 10min with daily debrief. Repeat on Day 2. Team selections will be made by letter at the conclusion of the afternoon session on Aug 2nd. Team practices begin on Aug 3rd for players selected to teams.
All athletes must be properly attired for running outdoors, possible time in the weight room, and for court drills. The Volleyball program does not issue any equipment until teams have been made. Suggestions include outdoor running shoes, indoor court shoes, spandex, knee pads, comfortable T-Shirt etc.
